Two people are still being questioned about the death of an 81-year-old woman at her County Down home.

Officers were called to Maire Rankin's Dublin Road home in Newry by relatives who became concerned when she failed to answer phone calls on Christmas Day.

She was found dead by a relative. She had suffered multiple injuries.

Police said they had been given more time to question a 39-year-old man and a 42-year-old woman about Mrs Rankin's death.
