Man held over stabbing given bail

Police officer's back

A 28-year-old man arrested after a knife attack in east Belfast has been released on bail.

The stabbing happened in the Whincroft area of the Braniel estate at about 0900 GMT on Saturday.

A 36-year-old man was taken to hospital following the attack. A police spokesman said his injuries were not thought to be life threatening.

Police said a man had been released pending inquiries. Officers have appealed for witnesses to come forward.
