Mr Angus died on the Craigantlet Road in north Down

Promotions and celebrity agent Colin Angus has died in a road accident in north Down.

Mr Angus, who was 40 and from Donaghadee, was driving a sports car which left the Craigantlet Road close to Cairnwood forest park.

No other vehicle was involved in the accident, which happened shortly after 0400 GMT on Saturday.

Mr Angus's clients included Alex Best and actor Patrick Mower, as well as several Northern Ireland broadcasters.

He also ran a number of small businesses, including a cafe in Groomsport he had opened recently.

Mr Angus's car was recovered before 1100 GMT and the road was reopened. Broken trees and debris mark the scene of the crash.

DUP North Down assembly member Alex Easton and Donaghadee councillor Jonathan Bell issued a joint statement after the accident.

"The road death on the Craigantlet Road in the early hours of the morning had caused a deep sadness locally.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the family circle. This road has had a number of fatalities and we will review road safety with the road service.

"As the family grieve this morning, many throughout the community will be remembering them and praying for them at this difficult time," they said.

There have been several fatal crashes on the Craigantlet Road over the years.
