Former ballroom destroyed in fire

An overnight blaze has destroyed the building which once housed the Astoria Ballroom in Bundoran, County Donegal.

Two firemen were treated in hospital for minor burns received while fighting the blaze which started at about 2300 GMT on Saturday.

Gardai are investigating reports that youths were seen acting suspiciously near the building a short time before the fire broke out.

The building had been closed since 2006 when part of it was used as a bar.
