Daytime attack victim unconscious

A 27-year-old man is unconscious in hospital after being attacked in Londonderry's Waterside.

The assault happened at about 1300 GMT on Thursday in the Primrose Street area, but details were only released at the weekend.

The man sustained serious head injuries.

A 37-year-old man, charged with grievous bodily harm in connection with the incident, is to appear before the city's magistrates court on Monday.

Detectives at Strand Road have appealed for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
