Teen dies in city bus accident

The accident happened at rush hour on Belfast's main shopping street

A 16-year-old girl has died after she was hit by a bus in Belfast city centre.

The accident happened at about 1700 GMT on Tuesday at Royal Avenue, near the junction with Castle Place and Donegall Place.

Emergency crews were called to the scene and the area was cordoned off.

The teenager was taken to hospital but died later from her injuries. An investigation into the circumstances of her death is now under way.
