Pensioner couple in narrow escape

Coach crash
The coach was involved in a collision with a lorry

A coach has crashed through a garden hedge in west Belfast and stopped just yards from a pensioner couple's home.

The coach was involved in a collision with a lorry on Finaghy Road North on Friday morning.

"I was shocked when I saw a bus sitting in the middle of the front garden," said Joan Cushley.

"Thank God the 11 plus was on, because the St Anne's school children would have been waiting for the bus and it could have been so much worse."

Both drivers were treated in hospital for minor injuries. There were no passengers on the coach.
