Watch the latest weather forecast for Northern Ireland

Tonight: The winds are going to strengthen overnight, reaching gale force for a time along the north coast. Gusts of 40-50 mph could develop.

This signals the arrival of a weather system which will bring some heavy rain, for a few hours, across all parts during the early hours of Thursday morning. Temperatures will range between 7-8 Celsius.

Thursday: The wet weather should pass through fairly promptly, clearing away from the south-eastern corner of Northern Ireland by mid-morning.

The day should brighten up, with plenty of sunshine on offer. It'll feel cold and blustery in the fresh west to south-westerly winds.

There is the risk of one or two showers to the west, which could have some wintry elements.
