Parents of pupils at Movilla High School in Newtownards have said they are angry that they feel they have had to intervene in the strike.

They held talks with the South Eastern Education and Library Board on Monday and said afterwards they were hopeful the dispute would be resolved soon.

However, they threatened to take legal proceedings against the NASUWT union, if the deadlock remains.

About 25 teachers at the school began strike action on 13 October.

The row began after teachers' pay was docked for refusing to teach the pupil, who they claim assaulted one of them.

On Friday, another union at the school voted not to teach the boy.

The Association of Teachers and Lecturers said it would not put the ban into action until it had held more negotiations with the SEELB.
