About 70 Territorial Army medics have returned to Northern Ireland after a three-month posting to Afghanistan.
The reservists, re-united with their families at the Hydebank TA base, were praised for their service.
During their tour of duty the medics dealt with about 600 admissions and carried out almost 400 operations at their hospital at Camp Bastion.
Health Minister Michael McGimpsey said they provided "critical support" to those injured in Helmand province.
"I welcome the safe return of our colleagues from 204 Field Hospital as they arrive back in Northern Ireland, home to family and loved ones," he said.
"During my recent visit to Helmand province, I saw at first hand the critical medical support these men and women have provided to those injured in the conflict.
"I was deeply impressed by their bravery, and the compassion and care they showed for all their patients.
"We are very proud of their commitment to delivering the very best healthcare, in often very difficult circumstances, to not only those serving in the armed forces but also the citizens of Afghanistan."
The Department of Health said the 70 TA medics provided medical care and support to casualties from Coalition forces, the Afghan National army, the Taliban and Afghan civilians including children.
