Fire base robbed as crew rescue

The crews were responding to an emergency when thieves struck

Thieves targeted Irish fire-fighters while they were out on an emergency call, Gardaí have said.

The crew, based at Bray in County Wicklow, were responding to a call early on Saturday morning when thieves struck.

Lockers at the station were ransacked, and wallets and other personal items being stolen.

The robbers drove off in two cars belonging to the fire officers, using keys found in the lockers.

The vehicles were later recovered nearby.

Detectives have been examining CCTV images from the area, and said they were following a definite line of inquiry.
