Man held over DJ hotel killing

Murder scene
Mr Nelson was attacked outside a disco

A man has been arrested in connection with the murder of a DJ in County Antrim four years ago.

Stephen Nelson, 55, was attacked by a gang outside the Chimney Corner Hotel in Newtownabbey in September 2004 and died after months in a coma.

Police said a man had been arrested in Newtownabbey on Tuesday and was being questioned at Antrim police station.

DCI Justyn Galloway said up to 10 men kicked and punched Mr Nelson and appealed for witnesses.

"Police so far have spoken to a considerable number of people who attended a disco on the night. But it is possible that someone knows who did this, and because of fear of reprisals, they are afraid to talk to us," he said.

"We need these people to come forward. They could have the information we need to put the perpetrators before the courts."
