Guard attacked by armed robber

A security guard has been assaulted during an armed robbery in Carryduff.

It happened as a security van was making a delivery and collection at a bank in Carryduff Shopping Centre.

A man grabbed the guard and cut his chin with a knife. He then grabbed a cash box containing a substantial sum of money.

The thief is said to be of thin build, between the ages of 20 and 25 and was wearing dark clothing. He drove off in a gold-coloured pick-up truck.

The incident happened shortly after 1530 BST on Friday and anyone with information is asked to contact police at Bangor on 0845 6008000.
