Police and politicians revisited the scene of the attack

Political representatives in Fermanagh have joined the police in appealing for information about the attempted murder of three police officers in Lisnaskea.

They escaped serious injury when the improvised rocket propelled grenade failed to fire last Saturday.

Chief Inspector Alwyn Barton said the officers had been following up reports of anti-social behaviour when the attack took place.

"We have a broad base of support for the investigation," he said.

"We have, and I think we deserve, the support of all groups within the community."

Police, who revisited the scene on Saturday, want to speak to anyone who saw a white Ford Escort in Lisnaskea last Saturday night.

They also want witnesses to the attack in Main Street and anyone who was in Knocks Road, where the car was found burnt out, to come forward.
