Headmaster co-opted onto council

Newry

A former headmaster has been co-opted onto Newry and Mourne District Council.

The SDLP's Sean Rodgers' co-option follows the sudden death of former mayor Michael Cole last month.

Mr Cole, who was in his 50s, was refereeing a Down division one GAA match between Ballyholland and Saval when he died.

Mr Rodgers is a former headmaster of St Louis Grammar School in Kilkeel in County Down.
