Shops fire leads to evacuation

Fire engine/officers

A number of residents in the Four Winds area of south Belfast were evacuated overnight while fire crews dealt with a fire at a row of shops.

The Fire and Rescue Service arrived at Newton Park at about 230 BST on Saturday to find a gas mains at the rear of the shops alight.

One of the properties was destroyed in the fire.

However, fire crews managed to stop it spreading to the other shops.
