Man jailed over indecent images

Gavel

A 32-year-old man who used mobile phones to download more than 1,800 indecent images of children has been jailed for a year and a half.

Peter Crawford of Clandeboye Road, Bangor, pleaded guilty to 45 counts and was sentenced at Downpatrick Crown Court.

Police found the images on three mobile phones and two memory cards.

Crawford had rigged up a system to allow him to view the images on his television.

He had previously served six months on similar charges and had just been released when he began re-offending in January 2005.

As well as the jail sentence, Crawford was given three years' probation and put on the sex offenders register for life.
