A taxi driver has been stabbed during a robbery in east Belfast.

At about 0615 BST the victim was in his taxi parked at Sandown Park South when a man approached the driver-side door and grabbed cash from him.

When the driver got out of his vehicle to try and get his money back, he was stabbed in the stomach.

He was taken to hospital, but his wound is not believed to be life-threatening. The attacker escaped with three other men along a nature path.

The man who stabbed the driver was described as being in his 30s, about 6ft tall, of medium build with brown hair.

He was wearing a black top and had a teardrop tattoo on his left cheek.

The other three men were also described as being in their 30s and one of them was wearing a Chelsea FC tracksuit. The path they escape along heads towards Cherryvalley.
