Pony needs stitches after injury

Ponies
The police are trying to establish how the pony was injured

A pony from a riding school has been injured in a "devious and evil attack," according to the centre organiser John McCloskey.

Staff at the Fort Centre in Maghera called a vet when they discovered the injury over the weekend.

The pony which works with disabled children needed ten stitches.

Mr McCloskey said: "Anyone who'd do that knowing the pony was so precious to a lot of children, I think there's something wrong with them."

"I asked the vet was it caused by something in the field and he said no, it's simply a straight deep cut by something like a knife or a bottle," he said.

Police are investigating the incident in which the pony was injured.

This is the second incident in ten days at the charity centre.

Last week some of the property was damaged.
