Gavel

A trainee police officer from Limavady has been charged with theft and falsifying car tax documents at Londonderry Magistrates Court.

Niall McGregor, whose address was given as C/O PSNI Garnerville, was charged on Thursday with stealing £11,000 from the DVNLI and falsifying records.

Defence said his client's PSNI contract was terminated after he was charged.

Mr McGregor, 24, was returned on his own bail of £500 to the city's crown court for arraignment next month.

The offences are alleged to have occurred at the vehicle licensing office in Foyle Street between January and June, 2006.
