Coroner's call for riot witnesses

Scales of justice

A coroner has called on members of the public with information on the death of a man during rioting in Londonderry 12 years ago to come forward.

Dermot McShane died in July 1996 after he was struck by an Army vehicle on Little James Street.

The armoured vehicle drove into hoardings he was sheltering behind during a disturbance sparked by the Drumcree dispute.

An inquest into Mr McShane's death is expected to take place on 27 May.
