Wandering cows cause road chaos

There was chaos on the motorway until the animals were recaptured

The M2 has been reopened after a number of cows found their way onto what is one of the main arterial routes in and out of Belfast.

It was closed in both directions from Sandyknowes shortly after 0930 BST on Tuesday for a number of hours.

A PSNI spokeswoman said four or five animals were removed, and it was feared others in the area could stray onto the road.

The closure caused major traffic disruption in the area.

It is understood the cows were being transported in a trailer which overturned.
