Irish police have been called in to investigate the alleged misappropriation of 142,000 euro (£114,000) from a gaelic games body.

An emergency meeting of the Waterford County Board was held on Monday evening when it was confirmed cash was missing.

The money is believed to be from All-Ireland ticket sales last year.

Irish broadcaster RTÉ reported a senior official had resigned. The board has said that a writ has been issued against a former official.

They also said that gardaí have been informed.
