Police discover handgun in city

Police discovered the handgun on Annadale Embankment

A handgun has been found by the police in Belfast.

The weapon was discovered following reports of a suspicious object on the Annadale Embankment in the south of the city.

Police and soldiers, including bomb disposal experts, attended the scene on Friday evening.

The gun has since been taken away for further examination. There were no arrests.
