Spate of attempted break-ins

There were four attempted break-ins and one burglary on Friday

There have been a series of break-ins and attempted burglaries in Banbridge on Friday.

In the first incident, a rear window was smashed in a house in Killysorrell Road near Dromore, but the thieves ran away after an alarm went off.

A house at Warringsford Road in Banbridge was also broken into, and items including jewellery were taken. Door panels were also smashed at houses in Cascumm Road and in Ballievey, but it is not known if anything was taken.

The police are investigating a possible link to an incident in Dromara shortly after 1200 GMT on Friday.

A small dark blue car - possibly a Citroen Saxo or a Peugeot 106 - with three occupants was observed acting suspiciously on Aughnaskea Road.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police in Banbridge on 0845 600 8000.
