Hospital installs security staff
Nurses are calling for better security
A security team is being put in place at a County Londonderry hospital following attacks on staff in recent weeks.

There had also been complaints from Causeway Hospital staff who claimed no-one was available to respond to the panic alarms issued to them.

The union Unison has welcomed the additional security measures.

Staff at the hospital in Coleraine demanded a security guard after another attack on a nurse last week.

The woman was slapped in the face by a drunken patient in the Accident and Emergency department.

Two nurses in the same department were violently assaulted last month by a pair of drunk women who punched them in the face.

The women threw a chair at members of staff but managed to flee in a taxi before police arrived.
