Police in Derry have praised the taxi driver

A taxi driver has saved a man from drowning in mud banks on the River Foyle in Londonderry.
The man was seen falling from railings near the lower deck of the Craigavon Bridge on Monday night.
The taxi driver called the police, then climbed over the railings and managed to free the man.
PSNI Area Commander Chief Inspector Chris Yates praised the taxi driver as selfless and said he had put himself at great risk.
"Fortunately the tide was out when the incident happened.
"We would have been looking at an altogether different outcome but for his selfless and quick-thinking actions," he said.
