Police raid 'cannabis factory'

Several hundred mature cannabis plants, worth an estimated £200,000, have been seized in Belleeks in County Armagh.

The plants were taken from a house in the Carriagh Dua Heights area on Tuesday afternoon.

One man was arrested and is currently helping police with their enquiries concerning the "substantial cannabis factory".

A PSNI spokesman said "associated equipment" was also seized during the operation.


Appeal after shots fired at house

Two shots have been fired at a house in Londonderry.

It happened at about 2200 BST on Monday in the Eskaheen View area of the city. No-one was in the house at the time of the incident.

Detectives investigating the shooting were told by witnesses that a red Ford Mondeo car was seen in the area at the time being driven in a suspicious way.

Police have appealed for anyone with information to contact them.


Mayor to meet city attack family

The mayor of Londonderry is to meet a Romanian family who have had their home attacked for the second time.

Their car was set on fire in the early hours of Sunday morning in the Waterside area of the city.

In a previous incident, paint was thrown at their home. Police have said the latest attack was racially motivated.

Mayor Drew Thompson said there was "no reason for this at all and it shouldn't happen".


Restaurant staff held at gunpoint

Staff have been threatened during an armed robbery at a fast food restaurant in Coleraine.

Three masked men, two carrying guns and the third armed with a knife, entered the premises in the Sandal Village centre on Friday just before midnight.

They made off with a large sum of money.

Police have appealed for anyone with information to contact them.
