Driver 'serious' in brick attack
taxi sign
A taxi driver is being treated in intensive care after a brick was thrown at his car windscreen in County Down.

He was driving along the Portaferry Road at about 2230 GMT on Saturday when it is thought that people in another car threw a brick.

It smashed the windscreen and he suffered severe head and facial injuries.

Police said they were investigating a similar attack on a woman driver on the same road over an hour earlier.

The woman escaped injury when a group of youths threw a bottle at the car she was driving about two miles outside Portaferry.

A PSNI spokesperson said her windscreen was shattered and she was very shaken by the incident.

Detectives have appealed for anyone with information about the attacks to contact them.
