Police have released the name of the man who died following a road accident in County Armagh on Friday.

He was 49-year-old Anthony Doyle from the Drumconrath area of County Meath in the Irish Republic.

Mr Doyle's car and a lorry were involved in the collision which occurred on the Castleblayney Road in Keady, just after 1500 GMT.

Detectives are appealing for anyone who witnessed the accident to get in contact with them.

Sinn Fein Councillor Darren McNally said "news like this is unfortunately all too common nowadays".

"Death on our roads is destroying lives, families and communities. On behalf of the local community, I express our sympathies to the family of the deceased," he said.

The SDLP's Thomas O'Hanlon described the incident as "yet another tragic death on our border roads".

"I would appeal to all motorists to take extra care especially in rural areas, where driving conditions can vary due to the nature of the traffic and condition of the road surfaces," said the councillor.
