Woman's attacker sought by police

Police in Carrickfergus have appealed for help in tracing a man who attacked a woman on Saturday morning.

The woman was walking along Woodburn Road near Ellis Court at about 0530 GMT when a dark jacket was placed over her head and she was pushed to the ground.

The man put his hand over the woman's mouth but she bit it before two passing motorists came to her assistance.

The attacker ran off towards Ellis Street. The woman suffered cuts and bruises to her face and arms.

She was also left shocked by the attack.
