Pensioner killed in two-car crash

An elderly man has died after a road accident outside Magherafelt in County Londonderry.

The 82-year-old was killed when two cars collided on the Aughrim Road just before 2230 GMT on Thursday. He was Samuel Scott from Castledawson.

Another man was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

In a separate accident, four teenagers were injured. Their car overturned at a junction on the Old Ballynahinch Road, near Lisburn at about 0130 GMT.

The casualties are aged 14, 15, 16 and 17. Three of them were taken to hospital, where one of them is in a serious condition.

The other teenager received treatment at the scene of the crash.

The road is still closed affecting traffic on the Drennan road, River Road and Balliesmills Road. Drivers are asked to avoid the area.
