Meeting is held for murdered man

Briege Quinn said her family wants no retaliation for her son's murder

More than 200 people have attended a public meeting in support of the family of murdered south Armagh man Paul Quinn.

Mr Quinn was beaten to death by nine men at a farm in Castleblaney, County Monaghan, last month.

The meeting at Cullyhanna community centre opened with one minute's silence in memory of the 21-year-old.

His family blame the IRA for killing him, but Sinn Fein deny any republican involvement.

Speaking at the meeting. Mr Quinn's mother Briege said the family did not want any retaliation for his death.

"Please don't break windows or intimidate people because you are hurting them, but you are also hurting us as well," she said.

No-one has been charged in connection with Mr Quinn's death.
