Microsoft in $500m Dublin move
Windows software
The centre will deliver Windows Live services
The Irish climate was a factor in software company Microsoft's decision to site its European Mega Data centre in Dublin, the company has said.

Microsoft will invest $500m and employ up to 20 people in the mostly automated plant at Grange Castle Business Park.

General Manager Joe Macri said the climate meant there would be less necessity for cooling machines down.

The centre will deliver Windows Live services. It is due to open in the summer of 2009.

Microsoft has been in Ireland for the past 22 years and employs more than 1,200 people full time.
