Man assaulted by masked gang
![]() Five armed masked men forced their way into the house
The police have said they are not ruling out a racial motive for an attack on a man in County Antrim.
The man was seriously assaulted after five masked men, some armed with iron bars and one possibly with a gun, forced their way into a house at Tynan Drive in Monkstown, Newtownabbey around 0200 BST on Sunday. The man was taken to hospital with fractures and puncture wounds. A pregnant woman, who was also in the house at the time, was not physically injured. It is understood the victim was a member of the Chinese community. Detectives in Newtownabbey are appealing for information about the attack.
