Fresh bid to extradite McAliskey
Roisin McAliskey
Roisin McAliskey is wanted for questioning in Germany
German authorities have launched a second legal bid to have the daughter of former MP Bernadette McAliskey extradited.

A previous extradition order for 35-year-old Roisin McAliskey was set aside six years ago on medical grounds.

She is wanted in connection with an IRA mortar attack on a British army barracks near Osnabruck in northern Germany in 1996.

A lawyer alleged there was evidence linking her to the attack.

Ms McAliskey was not at the hearing at Belfast Recorder's Court on Tuesday. She is currently on bail.

Opening the case, a lawyer said the German authorities believed the intention of the attack was to kill people inside the barracks, which contained about 150 British personnel.

"In essence, it's the German prosecution case that he can link the defendant to the IRA group which rented a flat and there is forensic and other evidence that the mortar battery was placed on the transit vehicle at the flat," said the lawyer.

"The defendant can be linked to the flat by fingerprint evidence, handwriting evidence and identification evidence."
