Four Dublin men have been jailed for attacking a bar in Londonderry city centre before a soccer match.

The men were jailed for three months after pleading guilty at Derry Magistrates Court to riotous behaviour. Three also admitted criminal damage.

In court were Evan Kane, 19, of Dorset Street, Graham Shannon, 20, of Ventry Drive, Gavin Hanley, 21, McKee Park and Francis O'Reilly, 28, of Clonturk Park.

The trouble came ahead of Derry City's League Cup Final against Bohemian FC.

Windows in the Tavern Bar were smashed during Tuesday evening's trouble involving followers of the north Dublin club.

Two other men and two youths who were also arrested have been released without charge.

Derry City went on to win the match 1-0.

In a statement Bohemian FC said that it "deplored" all violence.
