Woman dies following house fire

A woman in her 30s has died following a fire at a house in Newtownards, County Down.

It happened at about 1730 BST, at a property in Ilex Avenue. The woman died at the scene.

Police have begun an investigation into the circumstances of her death, and detectives have appealed for anyone with information to come forward.

Forensic scientists have been carrying out tests on the house, which remains cordoned off.
