Funeral held for road victims

Hundreds of mourners have attended the funeral of a County Tyrone man and his stepson who died in a car accident in the Irish Republic.

Ian Morrison, 37, from Aughnacloy and his 10-year-old stepson, Darren, died when their car was involved in a collision with a lorry on Monday.

The accident happened at Moybridge near Emyvale in County Monaghan.

Mr Morrison's 18-month-old daughter, Tiffany, who was also in the car, remains in a critical condition in Beaumont Hospital in Dublin.

The driver of the lorry was treated for shock.

Two others die

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, a 33-year-old man has died after a road accident near Lisburn in County Antrim.

The accident happened on Tuesday night near the Ballymacbrennan crossroads on the Comber Road, when the victim's Peugeot car was in collision with a Vauxhall Cavalier.

The driver of the other car is in a stable condition in hospital.

In another incident, a man has died in hospital following a road accident on the A1 road near Banbridge.

He was named as Darren Weir, 27, from Victoria Park in Banbridge.

Mr Weir's Ford Escort car was in collision with a Mercedes on Monday.
