Riverside complex plans unveiled

Plans have been unveiled for a £600m redevelopment of an old factory site on the banks of Belfast's River Lagan.

Offices, shops, a supermarket and a hotel will be built on the 16-acre Sirocco Works site, along with 2,000 apartments and a new public park.

Developers Carville Group said hundreds of construction jobs would be created during the 10-year building programme, as well as 2,300 jobs upon completion.

It also plans to build a new bridge over the river for pedestrians.

The developers hope to have planning permission by 2010.
