The body of Londonderry man Aaron Toland who was killed in the Thai air disaster has been brought home.

The 22-year-old student and his friend were on their way to Australia when the plane they were in crashed on the island of Phuket.

His aunt, Patricia Logue, thanked those who had given support to the family since the crash on Sunday.

"Nothing could prepare us to lose Aaron in this terrible tragic manner so far away from us, his family," she said.

Mr Toland's friend Chris Cooley remains in hospital on the island. Doctors have said he will make a full recovery.

Ashley Harrow from Moira, County Armagh, also survived the crash and said it was a miracle he was not killed or seriously injured.

There were 123 passengers and seven crew on board the flight from Bangkok when it crashed in poor weather.
