Three vehicles were involved in the accident
A 17-year-old youth has died and two men have been critically injured in a road accident in County Fermanagh.

The dead youth was a passenger in a four-wheel drive vehicle which was in collision with a car and a lorry near Brookeborough on Monday.

His 20-year-old brother, who was driving, is one of the critical. Five others, including a boy of seven and his 10-year-old sister were also hurt.

The children's injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Third crash

The crash happened at 1620 BST on Monday on the main road between Ballygawley and Enniskillen.

The injured were initially taken to the Erne Hospital in Enniskillen, but some casualties were later transferred to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast.

It is understood the dead youth came from Belfast. A third man who was in the same vehicle was also injured.

The driver of the lorry was not badly injured, although he remains in hospital.

It was the third road accident in the Fermanagh area within 48 hours. A 65-year-old man remains in a critical condition after a crash near Beleek on Sunday.

The police said 70 people had died on Northern Ireland roads so far this year - compared to 83 deaths for the same period last year.

They have appealed for anyone with information about the latest incident to contact them.
