A disqualified driver, who has 104 road traffic convictions, has been refused bail at Belfast Magistrates court.

Thomas Cairns, 26, was stopped by police on Friday night along Haypark Avenue in South Belfast.

The judge in court said Cairns' criminal record which included drink and dangerous driving offences "jumped out at her".

The gardener, who admitted driving while disqualified and without insurance, was remanded in custody.

The judge said she "envisaged" the case being sent to the Crown Court, given Cairns' record.
