The USPCA has seized more than a dozen pit bull-type dogs in a major operation in County Armagh.
The animals seized in the operation were pit bull-type dogs
It brings to more than 200, the number of fighting animals recovered by the charity this year.
It has asked the BBC not to reveal any further information as to the location of the seizure.
The charity's Stephen Philpott says dog-fighting in NI is at "epidemic proportions" with more people involved now than 15 years ago.
"This was when the legislation was brought in to try and ban the dogs that were used in it," he said.
"We would appeal to the people who carry out these practices to stop doing it. It's a very, very cruel sport and the animals live a life of constant misery."
According to the USPCA, some of the dogs seized are among the best known fighting stock in Europe.
