The west Belfast home of a man murdered last year has been extensively damaged in a petrol bomb attack.

Father-of-six Gerard Devlin was stabbed in February 2006.

On Friday night, after his widow left the house at Whitecliff Parade in Balymurphy to visit neighbours, six masked men attacked it.

They threw a number of petrol bombs through the living-room window, then escaped in a silver car towards Ballymurphy Road.

The family have said it is unclear whether the attack was part of an ongoing feud in the area which followed the stabbing of Mr Devlin.

Mr Devlin's aunt Bernadette O'Rawe said the family would not be intimidated.

"Aine's under massive pressure, she hasn't had time to grieve, she has six children, her partner was murdered and we've had all this ongoing conflict," she said.

"Now we have this. The girl just doesn't know whether she's coming or going.

"But I'll tell you one thing - she will not be burnt out or intimidated out. If she leaves this area it will be of her own accord."
