Ahern set to address parliament
Bertie Ahern
Bertie Ahern has been asked to address parliament
Taoiseach Bertie Ahern has been invited to address the joint Houses of Parliament at Westminster next month.

Mr Ahern is expected to reflect on the Northern Ireland peace process and the changed relationship between the Irish Republic and the UK.

He is due to address the Commons and the Lords on 15 May.

Both Mr Ahern and Prime Minister Tony Blair are expected to attend Stormont on 8 May to witness the restoration of power-sharing to Stormont.

Power-sharing at Stormont has been suspended since October 2002 amid allegations of intelligence gathering at Stormont.

Direct rule has been in place since that date.
