Church 'heartbroken' at coalition
DUP leader Ian Paisley
Most Free Presbyterians do not want Ian Paisley to work with Martin McGuinness
Most Free Presbyterians are deeply troubled by the prospect of Ian Paisley sharing power with Martin McGuinness, a close friend of the DUP leader said.

The comments from Rev Ivan Foster come just 36 hours before the DUP and Sinn Fein are due to nominate their choices for First and Deputy First Minister.

The senior minister said it would be "heartbreaking" if its moderator took a job in a new executive.

He said members rejected the idea of a political coalition with Mr McGuinness.

"The thought of one so highly esteemed and loved as Ian Paisley in political coalition with Martin McGuinness, I would say, is heart-breaking to most, if not every Free Presbyterian," Mr Foster said.
