A 23-year-old man has appeared in court charged with murdering a 38-year-old woman in west Belfast at the weekend.

Kristoph Emmanuel Aluya, originally from Nigeria but now living in Churchfield, County Carlow, is accused of murdering Grace Moore.

Ms Moore's body was discovered at a house at Erris Grove near Blacks Road in Belfast on Saturday.

A defence solicitor said his client would deny the charge. Mr Aluya was remanded in custody until 12 December.

The defendant spoke only once to confirm he understood the charge against him.

A detective sergeant told the court he believed he could connect the accused to the charge.
