Diamonds worth thousands of pounds were stolen from the Forbes family
Diamonds worth thousands of pounds have been stolen in an armed robbery at the home of a Portadown jeweller.

Three masked men, who were dressed in blue overalls and armed with guns and a knife, forced their way into Margaret Forbes' home on Thursday night.

Mrs Forbes, her husband and daughter were threatened by the gang who escaped with loose diamonds worth tens of thousands of pounds.

The gang also stole the family's car. No-one was injured in the attack.

Police have appealed for anyone with information concerning the incident, which took place at about 1800 GMT, to contact them.

They said detectives wanted to talk to any jewellers offered diamonds in suspicious circumstances.
