Big-hearted Children in Need fundraisers have been on the final push to top last year's total of more than 470,000 in Northern Ireland.

And as usual, an array of wacky stunts and events from water skiing on chilly Lough Erne to shearing sheep was taking place to help the BBC charity.

Last year in Northern Ireland, almost 2.5m was given out through 301 grants.

TV cameras were out and about in Omagh, Warrenpoint, Belleek, Armagh and Derry as well as the main event in Belfast.

Local presenters included John Daly, Donna Traynor and Christine Bleakley.

Westlife performed their latest number one in Belfast
The show featured musical performances from some of the biggest names in pop including Westlife and Katie Melua.

And a host of stars doubled up with famous singing faces to duet in the BBC's Blackstaff studios in Belfast.

Since 1980, more than 10m has been raised on the night by generous donations and fundraisers in Northern Ireland.
